Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 20, 2026

The short version: Pixel a Go-Go! is built to keep your images yours. Everything you import is processed entirely on your iPhone — there are no servers that receive your pictures, no account to create, no ads, and no analytics or tracking. The only time the app talks to the internet is to validate a Go-Go! Pro subscription through Apple and our payment provider.

01Who we are

Pixel a Go-Go! (the "App") is an iPhone app that imports, upscales, and restyles retro game screenshots and photos. The App is developed and published by Cameron Banga ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.

02What we don't collect

We have deliberately kept the App's data footprint as small as possible. The App:

  • does not require an account, sign-in, name, or email address;
  • does not include advertising SDKs, and shows no ads;
  • does not include third-party analytics or behavioral tracking, and does not access the Advertising Identifier (IDFA);
  • does not track you across other apps or websites (our App Privacy manifest declares NSPrivacyTracking = false);
  • does not upload, transmit, or back up your images to us or to any third party.

03Your images stay on your device

All of the App's image processing — pixel-perfect (nearest-neighbor) scaling, AI Up-Res super-resolution (using an on-device Core ML model bundled inside the App), Lanczos resampling, retro color filters, and background removal — runs locally on your iPhone. Your screenshots and photos are never sent to us or to any external server for processing.

04Data stored on your device

The App stores the following locally, inside its own protected app container (and a private app group shared only with its own iMessage sticker and share extensions):

  • Your images — the originals you import and any upscaled or filtered renderings you create;
  • Library metadata — things like detected system, capture date, favorites, and collections you organize;
  • App settings & counters — your preferences and a small counter of how many free imports and upscales you have used (so the free tier works without an account).

This data lives only on your device. It is removed when you delete the App. Because it is stored in the App's container, it may be included in your own device or iCloud backups — these backups are created and controlled by you and Apple, not by us, and we have no access to them.

05Photo library access

When you choose to save an upscaled image, the App asks for permission to add photos to your photo library so it can write that image. When you import from Photos, you use Apple's system photo picker, which hands the App only the specific items you select. The App does not request full read access to scan or browse your entire photo library.

06Game Boy Printer & local network

If you connect a compatible Game Boy Printer USB-C adapter (such as a pico-gb-printer device), the App communicates directly with that hardware over a local connection (a wired network interface the adapter presents at a private address). iOS may ask for Local Network permission so this can work. This communication is strictly between your iPhone and your own connected device to import your pictures — nothing is sent over the internet.

07Subscriptions & payments

Go-Go! Pro is an optional in-app subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using your Apple ID — we never see or receive your payment card details.

To manage and unlock Pro features across your devices, we use RevenueCat as our subscription infrastructure provider. When you purchase or restore a subscription, RevenueCat receives a randomly generated, app-specific user identifier and your App Store purchase/receipt information so it can confirm whether your subscription is active. It may also process limited technical data (such as the IP address of the request and basic device/app information) to provide and secure this service. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or any of your images. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.

08Third-party services

The only third parties involved in the App's operation are Apple (App Store distribution and payments) and RevenueCat (subscription management), as described above. The App may also contain links to external websites (for example, an open-source hardware project page). If you tap such a link, it opens in your browser and is governed by that site's own privacy policy; we are not responsible for the content or practices of external sites.

09Children

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect personal information from anyone, no special children's data is gathered.

10Your rights & choices

Because we do not collect or store your personal information on our own systems, there is no personal profile for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf. You remain in full control:

  • Delete individual images in the App (they move to Recently Deleted before being purged), or delete the App to remove all of its on-device data;
  • Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple ID account settings;
  • Revoke Photo or Local Network permissions anytime in the iOS Settings app.

We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not engage in "sharing" or "targeted advertising" as those terms are defined under laws such as the GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). If you have questions about your rights, contact us using the details below.

11Security & retention

Your data is stored on your device and protected by iOS's app sandbox and the device security you have enabled (such as your passcode and encryption). We retain none of your content ourselves, so your content's retention is entirely in your hands — it persists until you delete it or remove the App.

12Changes to this policy

If we change how the App handles information, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the App Store listing where appropriate.
